The re-ignition of my love for metal. I’ve always been a fan but found it so hard to find good bands with a good catalogue of music that I’d not want to skip after a while.
Bloodstock Open Air Festival 2010. I’d heard a lot about it but never really thought about going until I sent the poster to Chris to write an article about. This was one of the best decisions of the year due to us ending up covering it.
My first festival. My first experience like this and it was mental. No, metal! It was truly one to go down in history of my life to be honest and I found a bunch of new bands that are fucking awesome for lack of a better explanation.
This festival is something else. People were hilarious, as were the acts and the general vibe was all about the music. The respect shown for S.O.P.H.I.E and Ronnie James Dio was overwhelming and I was proud I could be a part of something so special. If you’re a fan of metal, then there’s no excuse not to make it down to Derby next year for what’s bound to be another great show of musical excellence.
It was a great line-up and a… Funny time out in the wet and cold. Can’t wait to head back there again, especially if Blind Guardian and/or Wintersun show their faces. That would be fucking epic then, but it’d be amazing anyway, with a decent snack pack.
Hopefully next year’s Sonisphere addition should be just as good! x
